McCauley Community Clean Up 2016

Coming together to take out the trash.

Big and small, young and old, members of the community came together to take part in the big annual undertaking of the McCauley Community Clean Up on May 31. Families picked up trash in designated areas together, and strangers became friends helping one another over the course of the day. Despite the fact that no records were set at this year’s clean up, the core value and vision of bringing community members together in a positive way has flourished once again. Thanks to the support of the Community League, members, businesses, and sponsors, the annual clean up ran smoothly and effectively.

The McCauley Community Clean Up hosted over 45 volunteers, and filled up seven industrial bins of unwanted trash items, for a total of 280 cubic yards. There were also several trips made to the eco station by volunteers in trucks, in order to dispose of hazard items not suitable for the clean up. The Lions Club hosted the appreciation barbeque, and the weather held up to make it another successful event.

Also, a huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers and individual participants who made it possible. Everyone involved should be proud of their accomplishments. It was truly a “trashy,” yet lovely, day in McCauley!
