Being There for Others

Tansi – greetings in my Cree language. I enjoy the time I spend with my family. After I am busy in meetings or public events, quiet time to reflect with one’s family is a wonderful blessing.

I have been to numerous events in the McCauley neighbourhood recently. There are so many good people to engage one’s insight on many different aspects of life. For instance, the McCauley Coffeehouse – so many different genres of music for different tastes. Music is a wonderful way to reach people. A simple song can make people dance or just feel like getting up and singing along. It’s so wonderful to reach many people with a few simple words.

It’s so interesting to go and meet new people from many different agencies. I never knew how much support could be accessed in the neighbourhood.

But all in all, my children, grandson, and I got a chance to spend quality family time together on weekends, watching good family shows. Those movies that can touch the heart and fill one’s eye with tears. It’s so good when I get a chance to just be close to home and family.

Recently I had a close friend who was very ill. She got incapacitated by shortness of breath. I made time to go see her and just try to comfort her in whatever way I could help. It really saddened my heart to see her in this condition. Then by a miracle, she has recovered to a point that she does not need to be on oxygen anymore. I feel so relieved by this wonderful change in her recovery. I know when I am in distress, I surely would like to have someone to comfort me in my need.

Just take time to reflect and pray for family, friends, and others whose need can be something as simple as just having someone to talk to. All of us need a helping hand in even such a small way. Will you be a friend today?
