Inner City Recreation and Wellness Program offers activities for a variety of interests

December is an exciting month for the Inner City Recreation and Wellness Program.

Bob Cook, one of Edmonton’s best and nicest musicians, is offering group ukulele lessons on Thursday mornings. On December 4 and 18 he’ll be at Boyle Street Community Services from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., and on December 11 he’ll be at Bissell Centre from 11 a.m. – noon. It’s free, and all musical equipment is provided.

Every Wednesday (except for December 24), snowboard lessons for youth will be at Snow Valley! We leave from the youth unit at Boyle Street Community Services at noon, and return in time for youth night at 4:30 p.m. All equipment, lift passes, and instruction are covered, so there’s no cost!

On every Friday afternoon from 1-3 p.m. (except December 26), we’ll be playing a friendly game of floor hockey at Boyle Street Plaza. Everyone is welcome. Again, equipment is provided, so just bring the fun!

The really big news this month is the Art from the HeART of the City Exhibit being held at City Hall from December 2 – 18. Emerging artists from the inner city community will be showcased, including talented painters, carvers, and photographers. The exhibit is a partnership between local agencies and The Works. The pieces in the exhibit will be for sale following its conclusion and all proceeds go directly to the artists.

If anyone is interested in participating or volunteering in any (or all) of these activities and events, please contact Rylan Kafara at rkafara@boylestreet.org or rkafara@bissellcentre.org, or both!

Rylan is the Program Coordinator of the Inner City Recreation and Wellness Program.
