Thrival Edmonton Relocated

Make Poverty History Event Will Not Be in Giovanni Caboto Park

On page seven of the print version of BMC News, the event Thrival Edmonton is previewed as taking place on April 30 at Giovanni Caboto Park. Due to circumstances beyond the control of the organizers, the event has been relocated to McIntyre Park on the south side. This updated information was not available until after we went to print. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Below is another version of the article updated to reflect this information.

Dare to Care, an Edmonton based initiative under the leadership of the Make Poverty History University of Alberta chapter, has the heart-filled desire to renew the image of this entire generation as one that cares about and empathizes with the needs of others; while immediately and intentionally taking action to fill those needs.

Make Poverty History will be bringing an event to Edmonton that will culminate Dare to Cares’ university year in the steps we’ve taken for this “re-building.”

When: April 30, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: McIntyre Park (104 street and 83 Avenue)

Thrival Edmonton, the latest initiative of Dare to Care, will be a celebration designed to rejuvenate and gather our communities. The driving vision behind this event is to induce the mindset shift from survival to thrival: defined as a state of inner joy despite circumstance. (Dare to Care has no relation to Dr. Paul Radde, a keynote speaker commonly applying the term “Thrival,” though we certainly acknowledge his field of study.) Thrival Edmonton will be a gathering for families from every walk of life, affluent or impoverished (with a special focus on our inner city, hence the location), where the entertainment will be provided by you; all who come for fellowship. Thrival Edmonton is asking first and foremost for your presence, but also for your skills, your networking, your participation, your donations, and your public outreach to make this event as fulfilling for those in attendance as possible.

We are asking you to come with open hearts to freely share your talents to the community. We would love musicians, public speakers, artists, poets, readers, writers, jugglers, and any other talents or skills you possess or can think of in the park. Come share the talents that you alone can bring to Thrival Edmonton and you are invited to teach those captivated and inspired. Love is the medium in which we’ll be sharing and we urge you to contact us at Thrival Edmonton with any ideas or gifts/talents you may have to freely bestow upon others.

Thrival Edmonton, the latest initiative of Dare to Care, will be a celebration designed to rejuvenate and gather our communities.

So, with these humble requests we conclude this initial outreach. If you feel this initiative calling to your heart please get in contact with either Justin Kautz or Tyler Goerz, by phone or e-mail (Tyler: d2cthrival@gmail.com 780-965-0428; Justin: 780-222-7758)

We ask you all to join us at Thrival Edmonton, April 30 at Giovanni Caboto Park for sports, live music, healthy food, fellowship, and a community event unlike any other. Finally (and most importantly) we ask for you to bring your stories. The paths we take in life have yielded us a blessing of life experience. Thrival Edmonton will not be complete if we do not take the time to sit down with our brothers and sisters of Edmonton and truly connect with those around us.
