Unfair restaurant review

I happened to come across the June 2015 edition of Boyle McCauley News at a meeting at The Italian Centre. I was thrilled to hear again that Father Jim is staying at Sacred Heart Church. I’m so glad that the parish population came together to protest his “move.”

However, reading further, I was aghast at the “Dining Out” column written by John Hooper (Mark Joel’s BBQ – “Out of Place in Little Italy.”). First, do restaurants have to match? Next, many small restaurants have their menus on the wall on posters. I’m surprised that the writer had trouble figuring the menu out! If you didn’t like the fish (“gelatinous substance”) – send it back and ask for goat which is cooked very well there and is delicious. The pork is also very good. Perhaps the server could have made some suggestions.

Because it is a one-man operation, maybe the manager can’t cook and also keep an eye on the cutlery (plastic). I also think you should have given the Mark Joel’s BBQ restaurant a better review by ordering a couple of dishes the way other newspaper reviewers do.

As for me and mine, we will continue to patronize Mark Joel’s Filipino restaurant.
