Block to Block Going Door to Door

It’s been an amazing summer, heading out door to door and getting to know some of the residents of McCauley. We have visited about 270 residences, with a further 900 or so to go, and I have learned to bring a water bottle with me. People love living in McCauley.

At the Block to Block meet and greet, captains came together to talk about Fall 2012/Winter 2013 plans for block parties, gatherings, and get togethers, all aimed at increasing communication, networking, and safety in our neighbourhood. The potluck picnic in the park in July had wonderful weather, with about 40 people in attendance. I hope to report in the fall that the August event was a similar success.

I have been so humbled by the encouragement, thanks, and positive things people have had to say about Block to Block. We have been graciously invited to share people’s homes, have a chat on the porch, check out gardens, talk about cats and dogs, and many other things. Most want to share their interesting, hilarious, fascinating (and sometimes frustrating) stories about what it is like to live in an older downtown residential neighbourhood. Thanks, Neighbours! It has been so very lovely to meet you.

We are looking forward to knocking on the rest of the doors as we round out 2012. As always, if you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch. Email info@mccauley.info, find us on Facebook (McCauley Community League), or give us a call: (780) 428-5332.
