Alistair Henning

Alistair in the Sahara. Carol Neuman

Alistair Henning is BMC News’ new Chair. He joined the board last year, as well as the Editorial Committee, and also has been contributing to the paper as a photographer.

Alistair and his wife moved to Boyle Street in April of 2009. “We feel so close to everything, whether it’s local galleries and shops, or neighbours,” he says.

Joining the BMC News board was a natural decision stemming from Alistair’s interest in both newspapers and non-profit organizations.

“When I first saw a copy of the paper, I was pleasantly surprised to find such an excellent paper covering our community,” he says. “Since I was in high school I’ve always contributed to newspapers and magazines, and I’ve been on the board of several non-profits before BMC News, so it seemed like a natural thing to get involved.”

In addition to newspapers and non-profits, Alistair has an interest in travel (“really getting to know people from other cultures”) and fitness. He is an avid photographer, and has a show coming up at The ARTery in April. “Versatile” is a collection of his photos of Alberta rural agriculture decline and renewal.
