April 2014
Our theme this month is “Poetry.” This was for a couple of reasons: April is National Poetry Month and the area is home to a number of excellent and accomplished writers. You will read their poetic words throughout this issue.
As a community newspaper, we strive to cover events and topics often overlooked by other media. If you have a story idea or would like to join our growing list of contributors, please contact me any time at editor@bmcnews.org.
You don’t have to be a professional writer or photographer to contribute to Boyle McCauley News. We welcome contributors from all backgrounds and skill levels. If you would like to develop your writing skills or want tips on how to take great photos, that’s what I am here for. To give you a creative head start, our upcoming themes include Spirituality (May), Sports (June), and Summer (July/August). Deadlines are always on the 12th of the month. Submissions don’t have to be theme-related.
Have you checked out our website lately? We have many readers in the community and beyond who enjoy the paper online. You can find a full searchable archive of most of our back issues, a community event calendar, and you can submit a classified or event. Visit www.bmcnews.org.
