BSCL AGM Update

On March 17 we had a great turnout of community residents and BSCL members as we had over 50 people attend the Boyle Street Community League Annual General Meeting. It was held at 7 p.m. at the Boyle Street Plaza.

Our agenda was quite full as we had some wonderful guest speakers and also elections were held that evening. Two positions on the Executive were up for election as well as two Director positions on the Board.

Our guest speakers for the evening were:

Joelle Reiniger – Abundant Communities Initiative
Mary Ann Debrinski – Quarters Downtown Project, City of Edmonton

Jackie McGowan- YMCA
Lori Gawryluik and Jacqueline Ohm – Quarters Arts Society

A big thank you to all our guests for their informative presentations on current (and upcoming) projects, activities, and events in the Boyle Street area. We had some great questions and comments from the floor as well.

Our President Thim Choy spoke to many of the valued individuals, volunteers, and groups and thanked them all for their contributions, initiatives, and hard work that make Boyle Street a great place to live, work, do business, and visit.

All in attendance were invited to enjoy refreshments after our guest presentations and to also review the Boyle Street Community League’s 2014 AGM Minutes and Financials and the 2015 BSCL Budget – all of which were motioned and passed/approved by majority during the AGM that evening.

Our elections were the last portion of the AGM. The first Executive position which opened for nominations and voting was the position of President. Incumbent Thim Choy stood as well as nominated form the floor was Mark Halle. Nominations were called three times and voting proceeded by written ballot. The majority of votes went to Thim Choy, who will stand in the role of President for two years.

The next Executive position up for election was that of Secretary. No nominations were announced and incumbent Karen Jackson stood for re-election. The majority voted by show of hands and accepted.

Our next positions up for election were for Directors on the Board and the following were nominated from the floor and voted in by majority. Here are the results:

1. Membership Director – Taiwo Fasoranti
2. Fundraiser Director- no nominations for position. Unfilled.
