Creative Pursuits

March means another month of fun and community building in Boyle Street and McCauley! Sure, you might already know about our Pet Food Bank that’s open Monday and Friday mornings at Boyle Street Community Services (BSCS) from 9-11 a.m. Or, about our drop-in floor hockey games on Friday afternoons at Boyle Plaza from 1-3 p.m. But did you know about our multimedia lab? Every Monday afternoon at BSCS, ICRWP coordinator Taro Hashimoto mentors youth interested in learning more about songwriting, video production, and graphic design!

Thursdays we have creative activities for all ages! Local musician Lindsey Walker has kids covered, teaching her Musical Mozarts program at both BSCS and Bissell Centre every Thursday morning. Alternating weeks at BSCS (10:30 a.m.) and Bissell Centre (11 a.m.), Bob Cook hosts his soon to be world famous Uke-Can-Play ukulele lesson-jam. Then, in the afternoons at BSCS, Shima Robinson leads youth through Sapling, an ongoing spoken word and poetry program. If more sports are more your thing, we’ve got you covered! Every Thursday at Boyle Plaza from 2-4 p.m., drop by for a game of soccer or basketball!

If that still doesn’t cater to your rec and wellness interests, please drop me a line at recandwellness@gmail.com and let me know what you would like to do! Of course, you can also contact me to find out more about the fun we do offer.

Rylan is the Program Coordinator of the Inner City Recreation and Wellness Program.
