Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 8 from 1 p.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 30 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to check out Holy Trinity Orthodox Church. Located at the corner of 96 Street and 109 Avenue, Holy Trinity’s open houses will feature friendly, low key chat and refreshments. Father Phillip Speranza and parishioners will be on hand to show you around the church, answer questions about Orthodox Christianity, help you think through spiritual ideas, and concerns, or just have a friendly chat and a cookie.

Holy Trinity Orthodox Church anchors itself in timeless and traditional worship, values, and beliefs set down by Jesus Christ and His apostles from Christianity’s inception. When Christianity first started, there were five cities which were centres of authority and authenticity of Christian teaching. In the year 1054, the Patriarch of Rome broke away from this united body of Christians, and the Roman Catholic Church was born. Five hundred years later, what became known as Protestant churches began breaking away from the Roman Church, so there is division and dilution of Christianity’s true and beautiful teachings to this day. However, the original church founded by Jesus Christ, completely faithful to His teachings is still alive and preserved intact and whole.

This is Orthodoxy, of which Holy Trinity Orthodox Church is a part. And while we take our faith seriously, we don’t practice the “hard sell.” Instead, we try to take a gentle “come and see” attitude. We also try to be friendly, down-home people who care for one another and for everyone else, whoever they may be and whatever their needs are.

Located on Church Street (96 Street) and the corner of 109 Avenue, Holy Trinity has quietly served up spiritual nourishment, friendship, and great lunches to Edmontonians for over 50 years. The Divine Liturgy is the centre of Orthodox worship, celebrated Sundays at 10 a.m., followed by munching and chatting with potluck goodies in the church basement. You can also drop in for Vespers prayers on Saturday nights at 6 p.m.

Remember: Holy Trinity Orthodox Church’s open houses are Saturday, September 8, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, September 30, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., at 96 Street and 109 Avenue, one block west of the Italian Centre. We’d love to meet you – please come visit us!
