Panciteria: A Business With a Community Spirit
Bayani and Lorena Alcantara immigrated to Canada twelve years ago with their four daughters. The couple, married 26 years, have done everything they can to build a life and contribute to our communities since they arrived. Two years ago they opened Panciteria, just half a block from Canada Place at 9653 102 Avenue. Walk into the restaurant and you receive a warm, genuine welcome and there is a wonderful menu from which to choose traditional Philippine fare. The prices are very reasonable.
The couple have been contributing to many events at the Boyle Street Community League building over the past couple of years, and this year they expanded their touch to the Church Street Fair in McCauley.
Very soon they will open their second location in the food court of T & T Grocery in Northgate.
Bayani can be found doing volunteer work in many places. He is working to develop a Filipino Business Association, is involved in the Filipino Canadian Multicutural Society, and prides himself in being a resource person for people who come to Edmonton and have no idea where to go. Not to mention he is also a member of the University of the Philippines Alumni Association of Edmonton.
Thank you Bayani and Lorena – you are appreciated.
