Christmas in the Quarters

Visual Arts Fair Comes to Boyle Street Plaza

Night of Artists. Phil Alain

On November 14 and 15 the Boyle Street Plaza will be the hosting venue of one of the longest running visual arts events in the Edmonton region.

The Night of Artists is an exhibition and sale of over 500 original artworks by over 30 artists. Friday night is a semi-formal gala to preview the artwork with cocktails, appetizers, and live music. Saturday is free, open to the public, and a more casual Christmas market affair with choirs and live music throughout the day.

Show Producer Phil Alain is excited to have Night of Artists included in the Quarters as it becomes known as another rich artistic hub in Edmonton’s downtown landscape. The November event has been appropriately named “Christmas in the Quarters” to mark the potential of a new annual event for the City and the area.

Night of Artists – which has been labeled a smorgasbord for the senses – began back in 1997 in a little community hall in St. Albert as a one man art show by visual artist Phil Alain. The event quickly expanded to be a national event with shows in 13 cities. The event includes artists and artisans selling their works alongside live entertainment, food, and drink.

The event will also feature the remarkable mural mosaic by Lewis Lavoie.
Consuming over eight years to create, the mural “The King of Kings” involves 195 individual portraits of Kings, Queens, and Rulers since the beginning of recorded history united in one collaborative art piece to form a mural that must be seen in person to truly appreciate.

Tickets for the Gala on Friday night are $15 in advance and can be purchased online at Eventbrite.ca – Night of Artists. A list of musical guests and participating artists can be found by visiting the website: www.NightofArtists.com.
