A Meditation on the Holidays
I love the holidays because I am living in a multicultural society. I feel proud about this and I have high expectations about the holidays for myself towards others.
Many responsibilities go through my mind:
- How many people will I invite?
- Where is the location?
- How will I furnish it for the best feng-shui?
- What entertainment will fit their interests and mine?
- What should be the best appetizers before the main course for the meal?
- How do I keep the festival manageable to my budget?
Holidays actually come up throughout the 365 days of the year: religious holidays, national holidays, secular holidays, and unofficial holidays.

I realize I may have over scheduled myself.
I may have unrealistic fantasies about a multicultural society.
Maybe I overbooked to interact with so many people and events over a short period of time.
I can never have too much holiday time to enjoy.
