April 2011

Earth Day is on April 22, which is why we picked an environmental theme for this month’s issue. Learn about what area residents are doing to green their lives as we explore our connection to the environment.

You will also notice a few articles about activism, which was last month’s theme. We had so many incredible articles submitted, that we simply did not have enough room to print them all. So, we present them to you this month, which is only fitting since activism and the environment often go hand in hand. We also have articles about upcoming events like Heart of the City, the ongoing McCauley Connects Coffeehouses, and Thrival Edmonton, which is a new event.

April is a special month for me, as I officially began work with BMC News on April 1, 2006, making this my fifth year with the paper. Gary Garrison interviewed myself and our Designer Vikki Wiercinski, about what it has been like working together for the past five years. It was very interesting (and fun) to be on the other side of the interview for a change!

Have a great month!
