Cameron Block Gets Historic Designation
The City of Edmonton formally designated Cameron Block as a Municipal Historic Resource, in April. Located on 105 Avenue and 97 Street, Cameron Block is significant for its association with early commercial development on 97 Street, formerly Namayo Avenue, one of Edmonton’s earliest commercial thoroughfares in the early 1900s. Its architecture is representative of Edmonton’s commercial architecture during the Edwardian era. The rehabilitation and restoration of the Cameron Block will enhance the unique cultural and historic identity of the area. (Information provided by the City of Edmonton).
