HOTC Events in May

First, we’re planning a fun night of live music and food on Saturday May 3. It’s an open stage, potluck, and fundraiser at Riverdale Rinkhouse, on the corner of 100 Avenue and 92 Street (behind Riverdale Hall).

Folks are welcome to come by starting at 6 p.m., with acoustic music starting at 7:30 p.m. People can bring instruments and food, or pay the $2 cover charge.

Second, we are hosting a Youth Songwriting Contest on May 24. The Heart of the City Festival, along with iHuman, the Parkdale Cromdale Community League, CJSR Radio, and the Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society are working together to provide a youth event that promotes and supports emerging youth songwriters and performers between 12 and 18 years of age. The event is going to take place at Parkdale School (11648 95 Street). Prizes include video and demo recording, as well as production support. Musicians interested can apply at the Heart of the City Festival website: heartcityfest.com
