June 2013
June is here! Our theme this month is “Laughter,” so we have a few articles about how laughter is a beneficial part of life, as well as a few funny stories.
We also have quite a bit of community news. To follow up on an issue we have been covering, in late April the SDAB refused the liquor store development permit sought by Arden’s Varimart. More about this and why it matters can be found in the McCauley Community League update on Page 13.
Exciting things are happening in the community. Be sure to check out the finalists in the McCauley Slogan Contest (page 5) and vote. Dance classes for kids are starting up again (page 3), the McCauley Historic Book project is finally launching (page 3), and Heart of the City is releasing a CD (page 9). Over in Boyle Street, lots of programs are happening at the Boyle Street Plaza (page 13).
If you like reading the paper online in addition to the print version, we now have our current issue available as a PDF. Visit www.bmcnews.org to download it. Have a wonderful month!
