Kick Your Clutter to the Curb!

Volunteers hard at work during last year’s clean up. Paula E. Kirman

Get ready to clean up your community! It is time again for the annual McCauley Community Clean Up, a big-bin program where you can get rid of couches, chairs, mattresses, tables, tree branches, and more, all for FREE.

The clean up takes place Saturday, June 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at E4C’s McCauley Apartments. Join with community members to clean up our neighbourhood. You can call ahead to book a free pick up or drop off your items in person.

On June 11, over 100 volunteers will scour McCauley’s empty lots and alleyways, collecting loads of unsightly debris. Volunteers will also be walking the neighbourhood to collect smaller litter – literally cleaning up the streets. Behind McCauley Apartments we will have big bins set up for folks to drop off larger items. Last year, we collected ten 40 foot roll bins, one dump truck, and two half ton pick-up trucks full of rubbish!

Additionally, there will be a community BBQ and a volunteer recognition night! This event exemplifies the ongoing process of renewal that the McCauley community has embarked on in recent years. Often seen as one of Edmonton’s poorest communities, McCauley residents truly care about their community and are doing their part to improve the city, setting an example for other communities to follow.

We require financial contributions, in-kind donations, and volunteers to make this event a success. Tax receipts will be provided for financial contributions and in-kind donations accompanied by a “paid in full” invoice. Volunteers are needed to assist with driving, sorting, litter collection and much more. To book a pick up, register to volunteer, or for more information call David at (780) 424-2870.

E4C’s McCauley Apartments are located at 9541 108A Avenue.

The annual McCauley Community Clean Up is a partnership between E4C, McCauley Community League, the City of Edmonton, Edmonton Host Lions Club, City of Champions Lions Club, and the Sacred Heart Church of the First Peoples.
