Showers and Flowers

“April showers bring May flowers.”-Thomas Tussler (English poet and farmer, 1524-1580)

The phrase above goes back centuries. It was published by Thomas Tussler in his collection of writings, A Hundred Good Points of Husbandry. The line was originally penned as, “Sweet April showers, do bring May flowers.”

It is a good reminder that even what seems like the worst of things (April showers) can turn into wonderful, positive outcomes (May flowers). It is also a lesson in patience.

March 11, 2020 was the date the World Health Organization declared a worldwide pandemic. The past two years have been a test of patience and adjustment.

Now, restrictions are getting removed. I urge you to go at a pace where you feel comfortable in readjusting.

Information is always available at Alberta.ca – type “Covid-19 info for Albertans” into the search bar. Or, call 811, the Alberta Health Services’ Health Link.

Understanding and confidence are good motivators going forward. Now that the days are getting longer and brighter, and the remnants of snowfall and winter are subsiding, it is the best time to take a walk or sit outside and enjoy our beautiful community.

However, you might want to bring an umbrella. Those April showers will, indeed, bring May flowers!
