    Letter from Masanjia, Award-winning Canadian Documentary of Chinese SOS Note

    When a desperate SOS letter penned by a political prisoner turns up in Halloween decorations sold in Oregon, it sparks a nail-biting chain of events that exposes appalling human rights violations and leads to sweeping reform in China's oppressive labor camp system. Post-screening discussion with director Leon Lee, who will be in attendance on Friday, Jan 25. Follow up screenings take place on Sun, Jan 26, 1pm & Mon, an 27, 7pm. The L.A. Times calls Letter from Masanjia an “amazing film… a powerful tale of human suffering, compassion and perseverance." To The New York Times it’s “a potent documentary, an important story, well-told.” Winner of 12 awards as a selection in 30 festivals in the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Africa and Mexico, including Hot Docs Top Twenty Audience Award out of 247 films.
