March 2011

As anyone who knows me at all soon learns, activism is a large part of my life. So, when a member of our Editorial Committee suggested “Activism” as a theme, of course I thought it was a wonderful idea – not only because of my personal interest, but because Boyle Street and McCauley are full of activists and activism, as I discuss in my editorial.

In this issue, we deal with global themes such as peace and human rights, as well as local issues like homelessness. We celebrate local activists, as well as take a look at some of the exciting things that have been going on in the area over the past month.

March is an exciting month for us here at BMC News, because our new website, bmcnews.org, has just gone live. Now you can keep up with what’s going on in your community online, as the paper reaches readers far and wide.

Now is an excellent time to get involved with the paper as a volunteer. We are always in need of reporters and photographers, so contact me at editor@bmcnews.org.

Enjoy the issue!
