May 2014
As always, I was amazed at the depth and diversity of submissions for this month’s paper. The theme is “Spirituality,” and it appears that the way many people express themselves spiritually goes far beyond the constraints of organized religion.
We have lots of community news to report this month, particularly surrounding the McCauley Community League’s AGM, the BSCL AGM, as well as other developments like the great news that the McCauley outdoor soccer program is going to happen this season.
It is very encouraging to receive more and more submissions from people who live and work in the community. To that end, we have been tightening up on word counts. Articles and columns should be no longer than 500 words (400-500 is ideal). Letters to the Editor, of which we have been receiving more of in the last few issues than ever before, should be no longer than 300 words.
The theme for our June issue is “Sports,” followed by our annual “Summer”-themed July/August issue. Our deadline is always the 12th of the month.
As always, if you have any questions or comments about what you’re seeing in this issue, drop me a line at editor@bmcnews.org.
