The Family of Community

Community is like a big family drawn together by many diverse interests and cultures melded into one.

I have met and have become acquainted with many good people in my community. I am looking forward to the Heart of the City festival in June. It always has a vast array of musicians and performers. Our band “Micah” has performed there the last couple of years and it is an exciting experience.

Being a part of McCauley has been so inspiring to me because I have grown in so many ways and I have many opportunities that I wouldn’t have dreamed I’d be doing. In addition to the McCauley community, I have also been a part of the Alberta Avenue area as well as Queen Mary Park.

In addition, I have also been out to Salvation Army drop in and St. Andrews Church, where I find people I haven’t seen in a long time. The Carrot coffeehouse is also a place my fiance and I have dropped by to sing a song or just visit with the staff there and make new acquaintances with others.

I’m presently a board member at the Addictions Recovery Centre (11724 82 Street) and it is so great to be given a chance to make a difference. If you have time come by and visit. Meet the new board and check out the groups they have to offer from guitar lessons to recovery groups to drumming groups and karaoke.

All in all I love my McCauley community because it’s a place where I’ve come to know good people and neighbours. I have grown so much with my church group at the Hope Mission and I love my church family. My children and I have endured moments of hardship but we walk by faith and not by sight so we are provided for in all ways in life spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. Just trust and obey is what I say.

Well, all of you who are my neighbours and acquaintances and friends I love you all and let’s make a better community for all to live in. I also want to thank a kind and generous neighbour of mine. His name is Archie and has been a blessing to me.

Clara lives in McCauley.
