Meet Our New Community Liaison Bylaw Officer
Do you have any bylaw concerns in the area? Meet Cindy Bidulock. She is the new Community Liaison Bylaw Officer for Boyle Street, McCauley, Central McDougall, Queen Mary Park, and Alberta Avenue.
Cindy has been with the City since 2009. “During this time I have been a Weed Inspector, a Graffiti Inspector, and a Municipal Enforcement Officer in multiple areas within the City,” she says. “Prior to this, I was on contract to the City as a Parking Enforcement officer for over three years.”
In describing her job, she says that, “Bylaws are designed to protect public safety and enhance livability within the City. A Municipal Enforcement Officer enforces these Bylaws through Notices, Tickets, and/or Municipal Government Orders. The majority of complaints are about messy properties, snow on sidewalks, garbage out too early, weeds, and graffiti. As a Community Liaison Officer, I encompass the enforcement aspect of the Municipal Enforcement Officer, but I do this through consultation with the Community. I am here to listen to you, what bylaw concerns you have, and determine a course of action needed to solve the problem.”
Cindy was born and raised in Edmonton. Her father is now retired, but owned a small business in south Edmonton, and her mother still works part time in a local business. Her husband is from a small town outside of the City. “His parents own their own business there and live on their family homestead. We celebrated their 100 years at the Ukrainian Village a few years ago,” she says. She met her husband through amateur radio. “Both of us support a local radio club and participate in many events as communicators,” she says.
Cindy encourages people to call 311 for any immediate bylaw complaints. “Through this system, all complaints are tracked to ensure appropriate response time, and are sent to the correct department for enforcement. They are also available outside of standard business hours.”
Cindy can be reached at (780) 495-0294 or via email at cindy.bidulock@edmonton.ca.
“I am an approachable person. I will be out and about within the community, so please don’t hesitate to talk to me.”
