We Have a Trailer!

The new trailer, up and running. Paula E. Kirman

I can’t help but have a big smile on my face these days. The whole months of December and January have felt like Christmas at our local skating rink.

As reported in the December issue of Boyle McCauley News, the work was starting to bring our 60 foot trailer donated by Northgate Trailers to its resting spot on 96 Street and 107 Avenue. On December 2, the trailer was placed and OML Construction started to work nonstop on getting everything up to par so that we could have it up and running. I have had a chance to see the trailer for myself and I can’t say enough “thank yous” to everyone who has been a part of this project. The trailer is beautiful and it means a lot to everyone in McCauley and the surrounding areas. This is the beginning of many upgrades that will be happening at the rink in 2012. Stay tuned – revitalization has begun on 96 Street and 107 Avenue!

However, the weather has not been as cooperative as the placement of our trailer, and it has limited the days of operation. As always, I know winter weather will be coming and there will be lots of skating days ahead.

A big event coming to the rink is Frostival on January 28 with an all ages skating party from 6-10 p.m. at the McCauley rink along with ice sculptures on the street.

Another major event is on February 20 – the sixth annual Family Day skating party. From noon to 5 p.m. you can enjoy the bonfire, hotdogs, marshmallows, hot chocolate, prizes, sleigh rides (from 2-4 p.m.), free skate sharpening, and loads of fun! We are always looking for volunteers on Family Day so if you are interested please give me a call at (780) 729-4363.

The times of operation at the rink are posted in the paper. Skates are always available for anyone to use.
